i'm a 17 year old male, with huge amounts of white hair that is noticable visible when it contrasts to my black hair which is why i keep my hair very short most of the time to reduce their appearance. I guess theres no permanent solution to white hair besides dying them, but recently i've noticed that the hair on the front portion of my skull is beginning to thin out A LOT ... and might start falling out soon.

Hair loss is very popular in my family, and my dad is bald from the front for many years, but i'm only 17. Is thre any way to thicken the hair?

If it runs in your family, theres not much you can do about it. A friend of mine started losing his hair in the 6th grade and is bald as a cue ball at 38.

Try Rogaine and if it works, keep using it! Its probably hederetary!

Sorry to hear about your problems, my hair started to thin at about 22, I am 25 now. I started using Propecia about two years ago. This is a once a day pill that will run you about $1 to $2 per day depending on your pharmacy(insurance will usually NOT cover this). I think this helped slow or stop my receding hairline.

I recently started using Kirkland's generic Rogaine(minoxidil). I got a year's supply off Ebay for about $60-$80. I think I have had better results with the minoxidil (5% solution) in terms of reversing my receding hairline and increasing hair density especially at the front of my dome. The only side effect I have found is an occasional crazy bad itch on your scalp, especially right when you first use it, but it has mostly gone away.

Other than that I would make sure you are taking a multi vitamin every day and that you have enough calcium and protein in your diet (and that you eat a generally balanced diet).

I have heard that Saw Pometto Extract is also worth a try.

There are also shampoos and general hair care products aimed at thinning hair like Nioxin. I have used this for two years and have no complaints.

I know I am using 3 products so it is really hard to know which is doing the most good, but I think the minoxidil may be the best and its not too expensive either. It really has helped fill in my hair quickly.

This is a hot topic involving lots of research and in 5-10 years there will be actual cures that will bring back all your hair so try not to stress and do what you can afford for now. The earlier you start the better!!

It can be hereditary. I had a friend in high school who was white headed at the age of 15! But it is posssible that there is something else underlying it.... so I would check with a doctor to be sure. Then.... accept nature. Look at Taylor Hicks! If you don't know who he is.... google it. He's America's IDOL! LOL

It's genetic. My friends brother started to get gray hair at 15 was fully gray at 25, and it actually looks cool. The best thing you can do is dye your hair when it starts to turn gray, as for the thickener. There is a hair thickener that WLS patients use I think it's called Keraxtin. You have to get it from a Physician.

Perhaps stress, or maybe you have high amounts of Testerone if it is in your family you most likely have inherited the genes which cause your body to produce lots of Testerone.

My brother and I both started losing our hair when we were young. Our grandfather is completely bald, by the way. He currently has male pattern baldness stage 2 and I have stage 3. We just started using propecia and it seems to be helping.
