Does strands of white hair on my black cat mean she's stressed?

We just got an adorable cat a few weeks ago and she seems to be happy overall. Purrs and sits on our laps a lot. She was all black when we got her but recently noticed that she has strands of white hair. Does this mean she's stressed? She's just one and a half years old so I don't think it's old age. Thanks in advance for your opinions.

I am not basing my answer on any knowledge I actually have on the subject, but I don't think it's stress. I think he's just growing some white hair. I have a kitten who is black and white spotted. When we first got him a few months ago, his black spots were all black and now his black spots have white within them. I also have a cat that was almost all grey when we got her (she is a dilute tortie) and now she's almost more brown looking than grey. I think cats coats can just change color a little bit.

If she is eating and playing and purring and cuddling you, it doesn't sound like stress! Sounds like you have a very loving kitty! :)

no it does not it means, there is white cat or a cat with white in its coat some where in the blood lines.

My black cat has the odd white hair and a neighbouring tom (who looks like her, only bigger) also has some white fur. I guess it is natural for cats to have more than one colour in their fur, it is just that mine is predominantly black.
