In some people its a genetic thing. My step dad had a full head of white hair in his mid 20s. Look at Steve Martin he has had white his since his early 20s.

I don't think the answer for that is know for sure but there are some things that can contribute such as some drugs and a lack of the trace mineral, copper, in your diet.

It has to be a genetic thing. I started "graying" in my 20's and was completely gray by 40. I just explained to my friends that my hair was naturally black and that I died it gray to get more respect.

I think you can tell if your going to go grey early by looking at your parents. My dad went grey at the age of 17 but my mam didnt until 40, I think I'll take after my mam.
