White hair!!!!!!?

I have a cousin who is really young (around 15) and she get s white I mean pure white hairs on her head.. not alot but she has about 5.. They are soo white... does anyone know whats causing them becase its not family history.

White hair!!!!!!?

Usually premature graying is genetic. Probably further up the family tree someone had this trait and your cousin was the only one so far to dipslay it.

I even had a long strand of gray hair when i was about 2 or 3. Now, i have a bunch of grayhairs im almost 20.... but luckly for me you really have to look for them to see it. I think i got this from my grandfather because he was completely gray by 20yrs old!!

....after reading about it i think it could be just part of the aging process in her case. Plus, its only a few strands.

White hair!!!!!!?

Stress.

White hair!!!!!!?

I started going grey or white when I was 17. Its heredity. Someone in your family background had to have it too.

White hair!!!!!!?

Dr. Fredrick Behringer, a local dermatologist with 30 years of experience, said when a person in their teens starts going gray there's a possibility they may have pernicious anemia, in which there's a deficiency of the vitamin B-12 in the body. B-12 is necessary for the production of red blood cells. Pernicious anemia is a rare blood disorder, and besides premature graying the other symptons are fatigue, shortness of breath and possibly chest pains.

Also, premature graying may be an early sign of hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism - both conditions of the thyroid.

And despite some beliefs, shock or trauma does not cause hair to turn gray. When people do go gray "overnight" it's typically due to an autoimmune disease called alopecia areata, according to www.mayoclinic .com. The condition - which eventually causes round patches of hair loss or complete hair loss of hair on the head or body - causes the thicker, darker hairs to stop growing before it affects the growth of gray hairs, giving the impression of graying overnight.

Certain drugs, herbs, supplements (including vitamin E and echinacea), and even smoking have been linked to early graying, according to a section on premature graying found on www.webmd.com.

Guinn, 51, said he was about 19 or 20 when his gray hair began to emerge. Guinn, who is adopted, said the trait definitely came from his birth mother, who had gray hair at an early age. He said his two sons, 19 and 23, are still gray-free.

"I was OK with it," he said about his hair changing early in life. "It didn't bother me. If I think I look fine, then that's good enough for me. I usually don't care what people think."

Behringer said he sees more people concerned with baldness and hair loss than graying. "Grayness is pretty much a thing people accept," he said.

There are many people in the public eye who wear their gray hair and wear it proud. Gray hair hasn't halted the career of handsome Hollywood leading man George Clooney, who recently turned 45. In fact, "People" magazine recently listed him in its "100 Most Beautiful People" issue. And Comedy Central's Jon Stewart, 43, is at the top of his game with streaks of gray running through his hair.

Comedian Steve Martin, famous for his "Saturday Night Live" guest appearances and slapstick comedy films, is just as known for his humor as his signature white hair. When Martin, who turns 61 in August, starred in the 1979 film "The Jerk" the gray hair was already very visible in his dark hair.

Other famous silver foxes include former President Bill Clinton, movie stars Richard Gere and Morgan Freeman and funny man John Larroquette of "Night Court" fame.

Owen said although the gray hair does add a bit of age to you, he will never color it.

"It doesn't really bother me," he said. "You have to just deal with what the good Lord gives you."

White hair!!!!!!?

I feel bad for her sounds like premature grey.

White hair!!!!!!?

Probably three doses of the Homeopathic remedy PSORINUM in 1M potency at a weeks interval will make her white hair turn back to black.

Take Care and God Bless !
